When I decided to follow a whole food plant-based lifestyle, one of the first recipes I wanted to create was oven baked crispy french fries. Knowing that I wasn’t going to fry the potatoes with oil, I had to figure out a way to get them perfectly crisp. I’ve made it dozens of times and I can confidently say, after many tweaks, the recipe has finally landed and is here to stay. You will not believe it, but I swear, there is absolutely no need for oil. They are scrumptious, healthy and so easy to make. And I’m pretty sure you’re going to love them as much as I do.
Crispy Oven-Baked French Fries
Equipment
- Oven
Ingredients
- 2 large yukon gold potatoes
- 2-3 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/4-1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1-2 tsp Benson's Table Tasty optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°. Cover a large, flat pan with parchment paper.
- Scrub potatoes and dry with a towel.
- Slice into desired French fry shape.
- Place in a medium-sized bowl.
- Add remaining ingredients.
- Place a flat dinner plate over the bowl and shake the bowl until potatoes are coated with seasonings.
- Empty the potatoes onto the parchment paper. Spread so that the potatoes aren't touching. This gives them room to get really crispy.
- Bake for 25 - 35 minutes. Look at the potatoes periodically to check for desired crispness.
